Lisa Oribasi

Writing soulful music is as natural as the very earth singer-songwriter, Lisa Oribasi, stands on. Raised in the heart of the Swiss mountains, it’s no wonder that Oribasi’s inspiration comes from the world around her. Channeling her inner child, her music is told through the freedom and imagination of child-like wonder, yet there’s a maturity in the lyrics and her indie-folk soundscape. The sun, the moon, the seasons and her personal relationships all play a part in her storytelling, while her stage presence is its own force of nature.

Lisa Oribasi’s songwriting journey began when she was 8 years old, picking up the guitar and crafting songs underneath a tree, in her tiny village. The innocence and naivety of childhood still linger in Oribasi’s songs, but now that expression holds a cheeky irony and adult perspective. Staying true to her roots, her sound is organic and nostalgic, blending natural instrumentation with man-made textures. This intuitive writing style led Oribasi to the metropolis of London where she developed and nurtured her talents in a Vocal and Songwriting degree in 2015. Her time in London offered an array of impressive opportunities, performing at venues such as the O2 Islington, Under the Bridge and Shepherd’s Bush Empire, including a personal invitation to perform at the iTunes Head Office London. 2017 became a pivotal moment in Oribasi’s career, when she was chosen as the artist for the Swiss equivalent of the John Lewis’s Christmas advert, retail company Coop, performing her song ‘Memories.’ Within a week, the song reached number 1 in the charts and has amassed nearly 2 million streams on Spotify alone, with over 20,000 monthly listeners. She was a noted songwriter for ‘Victoria Line’ by Pegasus featuring Anna Rossinelli, which became the most successful Swiss song of the year, before joining them at their stadium show at Zurich Hallenstadion. 2021 saw the release of her single ‘Mustard Yellow,’ accompanied by a vibrant music video. Her next single ‘Bubbles’ will be available on all platforms from Friday the 19th of November 2021.

Influenced by the eclectic sounds of Ben Howard, Maggie Rogers, Matt Corby and Glass Animals, ‘Red Earth’ is Lisa Oribasi’s upcoming debut EP, to be released in Spring 2022. Self-recorded and co-produced by Oribasi and fellow creator, Tom Oehler, the EP is an accumulation of numerous samples recorded by Oribasi as she travelled around the world. For this multi-instrumental singersongwriter, storytelling is at the core of her art, and the EP follows a journey of surrender, surrendering to the present moment and to everything that exists.
